Hamlin wins Busch Series pole
Darlington, SC (Sports Network) - Denny Hamlin captured the pole for tonight's Diamond Hill Plywood 200 Busch race at the "Lady in Black" - Darlington Raceway. The No.20 Joe Gibbs Racing Chevrolet driver circled the 1.366-mile egg-shaped oval in 29.448 seconds (166.993 m.p.h.).
The pole victory was Denny Hamlin's second in a row, second of the season and eighth of his Busch career. He is also the defending Diamond Hill Plywood 200 champion.
Starting on the front row with Denny Hamlin will be David Stremme who posted a time of 29.630 seconds.
Greg Biffle (29.648) and Marcos Ambrose (29.701) will make up row two.
Runaway series points leader Carl Edwards will start 15th in the 43-car field. Through 11 events, Edwards holds a stunning 402-point lead over last year's record-setting winner Kevin Harvick. He has an even bigger lead over the first full-time Busch Series competitor - Dave Blaney. His margin there is 510 points and climbing.
