Driver Hamlin to visit SpeedPark
Denny Hamlin, driver of the number 11 FedEx Chevrolet, will host a meet-and-greet at NASCAR SpeedPark in Myrtle Beach today.
Denny Hamlin got his start racing go-karts are age 7 and has had 127 wins. Denny Hamlin began his stock car racing career in 1997 at age 16 and finished the season with a Rookie of the Year title and two track championships.
He moved on to the Grand Stock division in '98 and '99, where he won five races and achieved 20 top-fives and 38 top-10s.
In 2000, Denny Hamlin began racing Late Model Stock Cars and scored 10 wins, 15 poles and 26 top-fives in 2002.
When Denny Hamlin signed with JGR in 2004, he was able to compete in five Craftsman Truck Series races in the number 3 Joe Gibbs Chevy Silverado and participated in his first Busch Series race at Darlington.
In 2004, JGR announced that Denny Hamlin would be the driver of the number 20 Rockwell Automation Chevrolet for the 2005 season.
His wins during the 2005 season secured a full-time ride for 2006 in the number 11 FedEx Chevrolet, which he is currently driving.
A portion of the profits from the meet-and-greet will be donated to a charity of Denny Hamlin's choice.
Kasey Kahne, driver of the number 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger, will visit the park July 31; tickets are $100.
